PetBiz Collaborative FAQ
When are new members able to sign up for the PetBiz Collaborative?
Registration is currently open for new PBC members. Our rates will increase to $45/month on 12/1/22. Members who register before our rate increase will lock in at the current rate of $37/month.
Is the PetBiz Collaborative for pet bloggers or businesses?
BOTH! We view bloggers, influencers, and writers as business owners that sell the service of content creation. While we appreciate the differences between each type of business, we also believe there are many similarities we can all learn from and that content is a core component to growing, no matter whether you sell a product or service. All pet related small businesses are welcome in the PetBiz Collaborative.
How long do I have to commit to being an PBC member?
We are looking to bring together a group who is committed to long-term growth, and we hope you see your membership as a long-term commitment. However, monthly membership will automatically renew on the same day each month, and you can cancel at anytime. All memberships are non-refundable and if you rejoin at a later date, it will be at the rate for current membership at that time.
What if I want to wait to join?
No problem. You are welcome to wait until the time is right for you. There may be different benefits, offers, and/or prices in the future. We do not carry over offers or rates.
What is the time commitment?
The weekly AMAs will be about an hour each on Wednesdays at 2:00 PM ET. The monthly Zoom sessions with Chloe, Jessica, or a guest speaker will also run around an hour. Each week we’ll post a question or action item that you can choose to engage with or not, and we’ll have challenges along the way to help you continue to craft the stories you tell. Our best estimate is that it’s anywhere from 5 hours per month to 15 hours per month, depending on much you engage and how much work you do.
Are there any scheduled times I need to be available to participate?
Everything that happens in the group is always available no matter your schedule or time zone. We have members from all over the world and always encourage members to go back when they can and watch the replay of any videos they may have missed. If new questions arise when you revisit a topic, we will gladly go back with you to help get those questions answered.
However, we do have two events at set times. We hold an Ask Me Anything (AMA) livestream in the Circle community each week on Wednesdays at 2 pm ET. Each month there is also a monthly workshop or guest speaker video call via Zoom. Though this timing depends a little on our special guest’s schedule, we usually schedule workshops on the second Monday in the afternoon or early evening East Coast time. We make sure to give you as much notice as possible on the exact time.
What if I fall behind or miss a week?
You are always welcomed and encouraged to go back when your schedule allows. We know life happens, so we try to not just stop one topic abruptly and move onto the next. The weekly AMAs allow you to bring up questions from previous weeks, and we’ll also happily respond to questions and comments on older posts. We do also acknowledge that not every topic is for every person. It’s completely up to you if you want to participate each week.
How many people will be in the Collaborative?
7,391. Just kidding. We are not sure yet because we don’t have a cap, but we currently have just over 40 members. We won’t allow the group to grow to an unmanageable size, but it’s hard to say where we’ll be as memberships renew and new members join.
Who will the guest speakers be?
We occasionally bring in guest speakers for our monthly calls. Some of our speakers are rooted in the pet industry like us while others come from outside the industry. We believe we can learn from both types of speakers! We have many connections to experts and professionals across the pet industry, the digital marketing industry, and the speaking world, and focus on those who can not only share relevant content, but are also willing to do Q&A. Head to our Topics & Speakers page to see past speakers.
I work for a larger pet business, can I join?
The group will be designed to help those pet professionals who are in business for themselves, or running their own small business with a few employees. If you are an employee of a larger company, you may not have the ability to implement all the ideas you would learn as a member of the PetBiz Collaborative. But we know there is no one size fits all, so if you work for a company with more than 15 employees or $5m in revenue and you are still interested in joining the PetBiz Collaborative, email us and we can chat.

PetBiz Mastermind FAQ
What is the difference between being a PetBiz Collaborative member and being in the Mastermind?
Your PetBiz Collaborative membership includes access to the PBC community on the Circle platform, our weekly actions, weekly AMA’s, and monthly workshops or guest speaker sessions.
If you join the Mastermind, you’ll add on the following to your PBC membership:
- Mastermind Sessions - Meetings occurring twice a month with a small group to receive specific support for your business and to provide support to others.
- Weekly Office Hours - A special time set aside each will where you can pop in to ask any burning questions to Chloe or Jessica (one of us will be present).
How long does the Mastermind last?
Each session runs for 60 minutes. Each season runs for 4 months or 8 sessions.
When are the Mastermind Sessions?
Mastermind Sessions are held twice a month in small groups of 4-6 via Zoom. Generally, each month one session is led by Chloe and the other is led by Jessica, so you get access to both of us!
Exact dates and times will be determined during the group matching process. You’ll provide preferences for dates and times during the registration process and we will do our best to accommodate everyone’s top choices. If for some reason, we are unable to offer a Mastermind during a time you are available, we will reach out to offer you a credit or refund.
How will each Mastermind Session run?
The first 15 minutes of each meeting will be a quick check-in with those who were in the Spotlight Seat last meeting, or for the first meeting we’ll use that time for intros and an overview of the Mastermind process. Then, each person (2-3) who is in the Spotlight Seat for the week will get their turn. If anyone is left with any open questions, or wants to think about something and then get an answer before the next meeting, they can hop into the Office Hours and ask away.
What is a “Spotlight Seat”?
If you’ve never participated in a mastermind before, you may be wondering if your chair catches on fire. It doesn’t! But, the Spotlight Seat IS about lighting a little fire under you and putting the spotlight on your business. Being in the Spotlight Seat means that we talk about anything you want and/or need for 15 minutes. You get to share a question, problem, issue, concern, or mix of those and get advice from Chloe or Jessica plus other members of the group (if you want it!). Then, when it’s someone else’s Spotlight Seat time, you listen and offer your ideas and/or support - even if it’s just encouragement.
When are the Office Hours?
Office Hours will be held once a week for one hour at a TBD time.
Exact dates and times will be determined during the group matching process. You’ll provide preferences for dates and times during the registration process and we will do our best to accommodate everyone’s top choices.
How do the Office Hours work?
Every week for one hour, from a TBD time, Mastermind members will be able to join a Zoom room where either Chloe or Jessica will be available to answer any questions. You can use this time for follow up or for quick discussions about something that has come up. It’s open to all Mastermind members, and each member is welcome to pop in and out at any point during the hour. You won’t need an appointment, but that may mean you have to wait for another member to finish before you can ask your question.
Will there be a separate Circle space for mastermind members?
Mastermind members are welcome to participate in the PetBiz Collaborative community in Circle, and will have a special space to share anything they want and to easily connect with the other members of the Mastermind.
